Narrow Boating

The boats are easy to operate and the "captain" does not require any additional license. Training is given to all our customers and we welcome experienced and first timer's alike.

What do your prices include ?

Our prices including the following :- Basic hire charge, damage waiver, gas and tuition. A fuel deposit is calculated and added at the time of booking on the booking form. The fuel deposit should cover your length of stay and if you use less fuel a refund of the difference is issued at the end of your holiday. Other optional extras may apply and will be displayed on the booking form.

What are the length of your holidays?

We operate a minimum of 3 nights stay and go up to 21 nights. Changeover days are every day except Tuesday and Wednesdays. You can have the boat for less than 3 nights, but the minimum hire charge will be for 3 nights.

Please note that we do not offer day boat hire on our boats.

How many people can be accommodated on the narrow boats?

We have the following size boats - 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 & 12 berths. When choosing your boat, make sure that your crew does not exceed the berth (this included babies) as the boats are only insured to carry the maximum number of people for the berth. The 4 berth boats are also suitable for 2 people.

Are the narrow boats easy to operate?

Yes, the narrow boats only have forward and reverse gears and go at a leisurely 3mph. We give full training for operating the boat and locks, so don't worry if you have never done it before. No licenses are required by the hirer in order to use the narrow boat.

Maps / Canal Guides ?

We recommend you purchase a canal guide / maps to help you plan your holiday. You can buy maps at our marinas (subject to stock) or you can buy online via our Amazon store. We recommend the GEO Maps (Nicholson's) as these have detailed information on the routes.

Is there car parking?

Free car parking is available at all locations. Many of our marinas are also close to main line railway stations.

Where can we stop?

Your can moor anywhere along the towpath as long as your aren't blocking anything or on someone's private property. See the boater's handbook for more information
